The Mother of All Days
Posted on May 8, 2021 2 Comments
Mother’s Day. She comes around every year and has a way of stopping me in my tracks. A mixture of gratitude and grief, timing and tragedy, love and loss. (note the deliberate order of those comparisons). Elaine. The queen of the glass half full. Even when she couldn’t find the glass anymore she fought her […]

Ok, I am a chicken. A Mother’s Day post was a little more than I could handle yesterday. The day is too much of a juggle between happy and sad, tragic and coping, to have been able to do this. So, I opted for the day after. Because, truth be told, you can only push […]

Everything about this photo is amazing to me. Even the fact that it was the last shot on the roll and got cut off. The outfits. The concentration. The moment. The COUCH! Flower Power, indeed. Just another reason I am convinced I had the perfect mom. And why I spend every day trying to live up to […]

Still going through the archives of my childhood home, I find things that both take me down and delight me each time I am there. This one fell into the delight category. There was no one on earth who gave better phone than Elaine! She loved to connect, touch base or just shoot the breeze. […]

A famous Elaine fridge magnet. Most probably the reason I have a decent relationship with food.

Indeed! This sits in a frame next to pictures of my grandmother. I never noticed this until the day Elaine fell. We returned to her house and sitting with my brother in his old bedroom it caught my eye.
